Tanzania's envoy in Belgium congratulates the Open University of Tanzania for receiving 2014 European best practices award
The Ambassador of Tanzania to the Kingdom of Belgium Dr. Diodorus Kamala sends his sincerest congratulations the Open University of Tanzania for the award they have received during the 2014 European Awards for Best Practices.
The awards which were organised by the European Society for Quality Research took place at the La Plaza Hotel in Brussels, Belgium in the evening of the 1st of June 2014.
Present to receive the award on behalf of the Open University of Tanzania were the Chairperson of the University Council Professor Samwel Wangwe and the Deputy Vice Chancellor Professor Matern Peter.
The award was given to the  Open University of Tanzania in recognition of the quality management strategies that the university has put in place and continues to work to improve.
Ambassador Kamala underscored that quality amelioration, and the desired reputation that accompany it, is also an essential building block in achieving economic diplomacy and creating the necessary conditions which shall enable Tanzania to participate effectively, meaningfully and beneficially in the regional and international arenas.
A distance learning public university established in 1992, among other innovative initiatives taken by the university, the Open University of Tanzania has been at the forefront in using Information Communication Technology as a mode of education delivery.
As Tanzania's envoy in the capital of Europe Ambassador Kamala added that similar to achieving economic diplomacy, having quality management strategies is a process in itself, as such it takes time and requires sound strategic vision.
"That is why I can confidently say that this award and other achievements of the OUT are all also a testimony to the strategic vision and leadership of the Chancellor Dr. Asha Rose Migiro, Chairperson Professor Samuel Wangwe and the Council, the Vice chancellor Prof Tolly Mbwete and the management team".
