SUZA Management Team refreshes with leadership skills
The State University of Zanzibar (SUZA) top executives are being enlivened with a four days Leadership Development and Performance Management Training Programme. This programme which is facilitated by Ms. Glynis Rankin, a founding Director and Chief Executive Officer of Creative Metier, UK is taking part at Zanzibar Beach Resort from Saturday 23rd Ms. Jeanette Logney.

Opening the training programme, Dr. Idrissa Muslim Hija, the Unguja South Regional Commissioner clued-up that in his memory within a short period, this is the third time SUZA has been organizing leadership training for its personnel hence places itself among very few institutions offering training opportunities to their human resources.

"In most cases the institutions which disregard training opportunities to their workforce use to point out fund inadequacy being the obstacle of not performing this important undertaking for organizations' prosperity though in reality this reason is immaterial since some trainings do not cost much", Dr. Hija cautioned.

He advised that the offered skills should be effectively utilized to spearhead the expected results in the university and the tendency of not employing the available skills in training which is common among many institutions should be avoided.

Dr. Hija urged SUZA community to be creative in order to correspond with the fundamental objective of the government of Zanzibar of establishing the State University of Zanzibar which is to bring about positive changes to Zanzibar society. He added that due to lack of consciousness many researches which are supposed to be conducted by natives are carried out by foreigners and insisted that it is a high time now to expand awareness in doing researches and overlie foreign researchers who have taken over most of the researches which can benefit our situation.

Meanwhile, when introducing the State University of Zanzibar to training programme facilitators, Prof. Idris Rai, the Vice Chancellor informed that the issue of distance nowadays is not a measure of time any more as we are living in a village due to high advancement of technology and we therefore need to be critical thinkers in our ambition to build a knowledge-based society.

Prof. Rai elaborated the vision, mission, slogan, executing principles (core values), priority areas and strategic objectives of the university. He enlightened that this training is aimed at accelerating the speed of implementing SUZA targeted objectives in order not to be left behind.
