    THE U.S Government through it's Embassy in Dar es Salaam has equipped police working at Julius Nyerere International Airport and the Port of Dar es Salaam with capability to detect a variety of illegally trafficked items, including wildlife products and drugs.

U.S Embassy Deputy Chief of Mission, Virginia Blaser, said, Wildlife and narcotics trafficking are serious crimes with devastating consequences for Tanzania's natural resource, economy, and security, these are the rezones led to the U.S Government to support Tanzania Government to curb the vice.

    Four Police Officers, from Tanzania Police's Dog and Horse Unit, who were specially selected for the canine detection program Tanzania, by the Office of the Inspector General of Police were trained together with their canines and certified in 2015 at CBE's world class facility in El Paso, Texas in the U.S, said Blasser.

    In February 2016, CBE trainers arrived in the country to conduct on-the-job training at the Airport and Port.
    The Canine Detection Program is a model of what can be achieved when partners work together, stopping the poaching crisis and illicit narcotics trafficking requires everyone to contribute, she said.

    In his part. The Minister for Tourism and Natural Resources, Professor Jumanne Maghembe, who received the canines on behalf of the government, thanks the U.S Government for their endeavor support.

    He warned that, the country is facing serious threats on poaching and other crimes, "This support came timely and we promised to use this expertise to confront the hardcore criminals.
